Nadine de Kort-Biekart co-founded EHdK with Brian Esselaar. Before EHdK, she worked at KPMG and Boer&Croon, among others, where she applied her knowledge to managerial issues. She now uses this knowledge to effectively design the Dutch healthcare landscape so that the vulnerable in society get the help and support they need.

Nadine lives in Amsterdam with her family and has a love for sports, art and culture. This drive is also characteristic in her work: thanks to her curiosity, enthusiasm, she quickly sees through the individual motivations and goals of teams and organizations. By then looking for common interests, she quickly gets things moving. Nadine will not rest until she has found the solution for the client.

Suicide prevention curriculum brochure

Reducing suicides within an organization is complex and requires perseverance. As a manager, you want to put this issue high on the agenda and commit to improvement. At the same time, you want to be there for your teams and strive for a safe, open culture.

What work visits can do for consultant work

Working visits are important when working as a consultant. As a ‘newbie’, I experienced the impact of such a visit in various projects, such as, for example, the cooperation around the complex VG target group in the Northern Netherlands. A working visit to one of the clients in this project made an immediate impression on me. Being in contact with the people you do it for gives your work extra charge.

It is now two years since I started as a consultant at EHdK, and I am not so new anymore. I now have more than ten projects, one seminar, one major launch, twenty training days, two guest lectures, two strategic summits, two Christmas celebrations and, above all, many experiences behind me. The main thing I have learned in the past year is that you only understand what you are doing it for when you know who you are talking about. At EHdK, we are focused on understanding what we are talking about. That’s why I’m taking you through the value I see in looking along on the shop floor.

Renewed “Pocket and change money guide

The recently updated “Handreiking Zak- en kleedgeld” (2023) is a document that provides comprehensive guidelines for the provision of pocket and change money to youth in youth care institutions in the Netherlands. The Handreiking was created in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG), Jeugdzorg Nederland, the Vereniging Gehandicaptenzorg Nederland and EHdK and was published on December 19, 2023. The Handreiking has been drawn up to ensure that youths who stay in a youth care institution and do not (cannot) receive pocket and clothing money from their parents are provided with this.

The watch and listen list on Dutch health care (part 1)

This is how it can be done

There are countless articles, podcasts and documentaries online about the Dutch healthcare landscape. We help you by choosing the most interesting and inspiring pieces that we think you should have seen, heard or read. They will make you think, and hopefully afterwards you will feel especially motivated to do something about it. Change in healthcare is needed. With these articles, we especially want to show you that things can indeed be different, as long as you believe in them.

Nadine on the changes in juvenile and criminal justice in the Netherlands

Coming together to make a difference – Nadine.

With more than 20 years of experience in youth care, Nadine has seen a lot in the field of care for vulnerable youth. Together with Brian Esselaar, she founded EHdK with the goal of improving youth care, among other things. In this interview, she shares her insights on the changes in youth care since 2007. She also tells how the Youth and Safety Eastern Netherlands program puts us with the first leg into the future.

The program, launched in the Eastern Netherlands, aims to prevent juvenile crime by connecting municipalities and juvenile justice partners. Nadine shows why programs like this one are so important and the impact it makes for youth, municipalities and professionals.

EPA group Tilburg signs letter of intent

This week we saw how GGz Breburg, Gemeente Tilburg, CZ and VGZ decided to lay down the start of a joint approach for clients with a Serious Psychiatric Disorder (EPA). An integrated team – consisting of employees of GGz Brebrug and the Municipality of Tilburg – will provide help and support from different domains to the EPA target group in Tilburg.
