Merel works at EHdK on issues surrounding people with Serious Psychiatric Disorder (EPA) and youth at the intersection of care and safety.
From her anthropological background, she is driven by curiosity about people and the systems in which they live. She would like to understand how the system affects humans. She then finds it interesting to see to what extent the system can be influenced to create the best conditions for humans. To this end, she can use her keen analytical eye. Merel brings structure to complex issues and knows like no other how to connect the perspectives of various parties – from the mental health sector to municipalities and the criminal justice chain.
In her free time, Merel likes to hike and hike to make space for new perspectives.
“When we learn to understand each other, we can move mountains together.”
