In early 2021, Levvel5 (formerly Lijn5 NH), a crucial regional provider of LVB care in North Holland, was found to be in serious financial trouble. The situation was such that the continuity of the organization, and thus the continuity of care, was at risk. Discontinuation and ensuring a smooth transition of clients appeared to be the only option.

Maarten and Pim on developing a ‘Gooi EPA approach’
An integrated approach must align with the local reality.
In the complex landscape of care for people with Severe Mental Illness (SMI), one lesson has become clear over the years: a successful integrated approach must align with the local reality. Maarten and Pim, advisors at EHdK, emphasise this in their work and in their recent collaboration with the Gooi region, where they are jointly helping to develop a tailored “Gooi Region SMI Approach.”

What work visits can do for consultant work
Working visits are important when working as a consultant. As a ‘newbie’, I experienced the impact of such a visit in various projects, such as, for example, the cooperation around the complex VG target group in the Northern Netherlands. A working visit to one of the clients in this project made an immediate impression on me. Being in contact with the people you do it for gives your work extra charge.
It is now two years since I started as a consultant at EHdK, and I am not so new anymore. I now have more than ten projects, one seminar, one major launch, twenty training days, two guest lectures, two strategic summits, two Christmas celebrations and, above all, many experiences behind me. The main thing I have learned in the past year is that you only understand what you are doing it for when you know who you are talking about. At EHdK, we are focused on understanding what we are talking about. That’s why I’m taking you through the value I see in looking along on the shop floor.

Renewed “Pocket and change money guide
The recently updated “Handreiking Zak- en kleedgeld” (2023) is a document that provides comprehensive guidelines for the provision of pocket and change money to youth in youth care institutions in the Netherlands. The Handreiking was created in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG), Jeugdzorg Nederland, the Vereniging Gehandicaptenzorg Nederland and EHdK and was published on December 19, 2023. The Handreiking has been drawn up to ensure that youths who stay in a youth care institution and do not (cannot) receive pocket and clothing money from their parents are provided with this.

"The cooperation around Highly Specialized Youth Care between different providers in Friesland has been supported by EHdK from the beginning. In an independent and expert role, EHdK has contributed both strategically and practically to the establishment of the cooperation. By coming up with substantive advice, but also by knowing the game and the players and from there ensuring connection and commitment."
"Working with EHdK is a pleasure. Because of their pragmatic way of working together, they manage to achieve concrete results on time. With their pleasant and involved work style, this simultaneously leads to connection and support at all levels of the organization. Under the guidance of EHdK we have made great strides within the BAR region in the further development of the social domain!"
"In recent years I have had the opportunity to work with the people of EHdK in various files, within and outside GGZ Friesland. It's actually great fun to work with them to find pragmatic but well-founded solutions to complex issues. And we do find those solutions! From cooperation between GGZ and Social Domain to High Specialist Youth Care, and from strategy discussions to Leadership in Suicide Prevention."
"EHDK is one of the few consulting firms, which do not stop at consulting, but contribute hands-on to the implementation of the advice. That makes them special and valuable in the youth domain."
"EHdK helped us with the questions we had, supports us in further professionalization and is supportive in scenarios and different perspectives. EHdK understands the social domain, can think along well both strategically and pragmatically and delivers smooth and good work."
"EHdK's pragmatic approach helps me as a client to really move forward. They do this with knowledge of the content and with a nice mix of future-oriented work and at the same time by getting to work practically on the basis of their knowledge of practice. During meetings they have a working style that invites to have the real conversation with each other, also for parties who sometimes find that difficult, with the result that together a sustainable step can be taken."
